Diet Guidelines for  Hypoglycemia

 

In general, low carbohydrate foods should be eaten while food sources that are higher in carbohydrate content should be avoided

 

Low carbohydrate foods (eat these)

Beef, Pork, Ham, *Bacon, *Sausage, Chicken and Turkey; Fish and Shellfish; Eggs and Cheese; Tofu • *Peanut Butter and *Nuts

 

Non-starchy Vegetables like Broccoli, Asparagus, Spinach, Mustard Greens, Salad, Cauliflower, Green Beans, Brussel Sprouts and Celery ( but avoid Potatoes, Corn and Peas) •

 

*Butter, *Margarine, *Oil, Nonstick Cooking Spray, *Mayonnaise, *Salad Dressings, *Cream, *Cream Cheese, *Sour Cream and *Whipped Cream •

Sugar Free Gelatin, Popsicles, Gum and Diet Soft Drinks

• Coffee, Tea, Club Soda, Mineral or Carbonated Water, Bouillon, Broth and Consommé

• Condiments and Seasonings

*Eat these foods in limited amounts, as they are higher in calorie and fat content
